Insomnia Coffee Co. has crafted a recipe for bringing people together — and it’s brewing up a new chapter in South Hillsboro this spring.

Oregon’s cozy coffeehouse chain will soon open its doors at the upcoming Reed’s Crossing Town Center off Blanton Street, planning to pour drinks by April or May if all goes according to plan.

The new location marks Insomnia’s seventh shop and its fourth in Hillsboro, joining locations in Tanasbourne, off Baseline Road and downtown at Third and Main.

“We're thrilled to provide another community hub to that neighborhood for delicious treats, comfortable hangouts and intimate connections,” said Tyler Geel, co-owner of Insomnia Coffee Co.

Known for its signature beverages and ever-changing pastry offerings, Insomnia has become a Hillsboro institution. Each shop features its own unique, rustic aesthetic — with eclectic furniture and local art creating the feel of a neighborhood living room.

A conversation piece to look out for at the new location will be a large, live-edge wood community table — crafted from a slab of the tree that once stood at the center of the field that has since become South Hillsboro.

“It was important to us to show the full circle of life and honor what was there before,” Geel said.

Insomnia Coffee Co. will be one of many businesses coming to Gramor Development’s Reed’s Crossing Town Center. At 104,000-square-feet, the commercial hub will sport everything from retail to dining to fitness.

Touted as one of the largest “master-planned communities” in Oregon, Reed’s Crossing has been in the works for over a decade. Once complete, the city expects it to boast about 4,000 homes and as many as 20,000 residents in South Hillsboro.

“We love the history of Hillsboro and Washington County, where we've come from and where we're heading,” Geel said.
