After three decades catering to the city’s furry and feathered residents, a Northeast Portland pet supply store is taking its first leap into the suburbs.
True to its name, Pets on Broadway has spent the past 35 years selling toys, tanks and treats from a historic building at 2762 N.E. Broadway. It moved into the space — at the time, one of three separate units — in 1990, and in 2003, the pet supply store tripled its footprint and took over the entire building.
This fall, Pets on Broadway will once again expand its reach, this time growing beyond its Northeast Portland roots.
A second location will open at 3495 S.E. Cornelius Pass Road in September — another addition to Reed’s Crossing Town Center, the 34-acre shopping plaza that serves as the centerpiece for Oregon’s largest planned housing development.
Like its original storefront, Pets on Broadway’s Hillsboro location will stock food and care products for pets of all kinds: dogs, cats, reptiles, amphibians, insects, small mammals and freshwater fish. The store also offers local delivery, shipping and store pickup.
Reed’s Crossing is a 463-acre South Hillsboro mixed-use development located south of Tualatin Valley Highway at Cornelius Pass Road. Construction began in 2016 and once complete, it will include 4,000 homes, parks and 104,000 square feet of potential retail and restaurant space. Its town center is anchored by family-owned grocery store Market of Choice, which opened in April.
